ReplyDeleteFourth and fifth graders will be using Spellography as their spelling program this year. Spellography is an expertly designed spelling and word study program. It was designed to improve not only spelling, but also word attack, reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension at the word level.
Each lesson includes 24 words based on specific concepts. Irregular, high frequency words are also included. Lessons will normally take more than 1 week to complete, so there will not be a spelling test each week.
Spelling test words will include list words, high frequency words, and a few words that are not listed, but follow the concepts taught. This will allow students to apply the concepts and rules in order to spell similar words.
A chance to preview and examine the program more closely will be available at Open House on Sept. 19, and of course, at parent conferences in October. Please contact myself or Jill Putala if you have questions in the mean time.
